Fire Water

I tried to drown myself
with the water of self-condemnation
satisfied with being extinguished
from flames I believed
would only burn people
in the end, it was me who got scorched into ashes

but God brought me back to life
in His depths of living water
flowing into the cracks of my heart
I didn’t even know were there

The Lord is trembling in all His glory
feeding the fuel of freedom, love and joy
in the candle of my heart
showing me that I can exist in myself,
through His grace
and His grace alone.
