Original Music: Called My Name

written by Kristen Yeo

I wrote this song while thinking back about my life before encountering the Lord. I was so caught up with worldly successes and the expectations i had on myself. in the midst of all these, I refused to turn to God for help and instead chose to rely on my own strength. everything fell apart when I started experiencing anxiety attacks. I felt so helpless and that was when I cried out to Jesus to save me.

Today, I can say that I have come to know the Lord deeply but the reality is that sometimes I still struggle to choose Jesus. but I want to claim, through this song, that even though I fall, God’s never-failing love for me enables me to rise again. it is also my promise to God that I will trust in Him no matter the season, and no matter how difficult it is to. I am reminded that He has called my name and saved me time and time again! so truly, nothing is impossible with Him.

Lyrics:

Lord I stand here before you, overburdened by my sins.
I have failed to place you before the earthly treasures,
now I am broken and tattered.

but when I tremble and I fall
Lord teach me how to rise again
for there is hope in the cross.
and nothing else will matter
cause I live for You and You alone.
though I am lost, still I will sing,

I trust You with all my heart
though it seems like this road has no end.
You walk beside me, I will not fear,

You restore and revive my life.
turn my eyes from worthless things,
drench my soul with Your love.
You called my name, I am set free,
by your wounds I am healed.

How foolish I was straying away,
only seeking answers from this world.
I have failed to see that You are the
great I Am,
but You still love me as Your own.

So when I tremble and I fall
Lord teach me how to rise again
for there is hope in the cross.
and nothing else will matter
cause I live for You and You alone.
though I am lost, still I will sing,

I trust You with all my heart
though it seems like this road has no end.

You walk beside me, I will not fear,
You restore and revive my life.
turn my eyes from worthless things,
drench my soul with Your love.
You called my name, I am set free,
by your wounds I am healed.

Lord renew my soul again,
teach me with Your song.
there is nothing I can do without Your strength.
Lord help me see the good
through the raging stormy seas,
for I am strong and empowered by Your grace.

I trust You with all my heart
though it seems like this road has no end.
You walk beside me, I will not fear,
You restore and revive my life.
turn my eyes from worthless things,
drench my soul with Your love.
You called my name, I am set free,
by your wounds I am healed.

The One Thing Necessary: 5th Sunday of Lent

‘Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But, if it dies, it produces many seeds.’ (John 12:24) In this Sunday’s Gospel, we’re reminded of the reality of death. At first glance, we may be quick to think of the physical and natural aspect of death. Yet, the call of Christ also entails dying to self – surrendering the desires, the habits and lifestyles that prevent us from following and loving Him.
