OFFICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Monthly Bulletin

JANUARY 2021 | ISSUE#48

Dear Friend,

Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

– Isaiah 43:19

We pray that we find you well! After a season of celebration, we now find ourselves in the season of Ordinary Time.

The Lord comes to us to do a new work in us and make a way in what has felt like an extended period of exile from the creature comforts of what we formerly knew as “normal life”. We pray that as you read this month’s bulletin, you will remember the hope of Jesus that we received at Christmas and know that it is fruitful indeed to hope in the Lord. We may not yet perceive or see, but He is doing a new work in us! Let us trust in Him bringing this work to completion!

SEASONS OF GROWTH SERIES

Constant Conversion: An Everyday Guide

As we embark on a new year, we also embark on a new season of growth with the Lord. Oftentimes, it can feel like we have tried to restart the same journey over and over again in futility. However, through Jesus Christ, we know that each time we begin again, we are made new. To accompany you in your own journey, we share with you our Seasons of Growth Series. It will comprise articles, reflections, testimonies and practical tools that we can apply to our everyday lives. We start off this series with an article on Everyday Conversion and what it looks like in our lives:

… we need to experience constant, everyday conversion. While I kept on giving, I was not fully present to God. Hence, I was not able to give of myself fully to the people I ministered to. All the things I did were only activities on my schedule; amidst my busy-ness I did not take time to renew my faith in Christ. I realised that a conversion retreat or an encounter retreat can only sustain us for a while – we need to experience constant, everyday conversion.” – Sarah Rachel Teo

He Will Meet You Where You Are

For once you were in darkness, but now in the Lord you are Light.
Live as children of light.  (Ephesians 5:8)

“Going into SHINE 2019, I had a lot of doubt and fear, and was struggling with embracing myself for who God made me to be. However, over the course of the retreat, the Lord revealed Himself and His Love to me. I was especially moved, in one particular prayer time, by an image of Jesus carrying a little baby in His arms. I sensed the Lord inviting me to trust in Him again; to surrender my fears to Him with child-like faith and trust. God showed me that He is and has always been there for me, waiting with arms open wide. As I surrendered my fears and insecurities, God gave me greater conviction to trust and follow Him in my life. The Holy Spirit also renewed my faith and gave me courage to proclaim His love and how He has moved in my life; to be a vessel for the Lord!

My prayer for you is that you may also come to know that the Lord will meet you where you are; that He calls you to come back to Him. May you not be ashamed or afraid, for the Lord will be there waiting eagerly for your return to Him with His arms open wide. Amen.” – Matthea Yeo, 20, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Year 3 student”
