Captivated Freedom
This artwork focuses on the theme of freedom and restoration. The butterfly symbolises new life. The old has passed, the new has come. The art piece was made to look imperfect to remember that we are all still a work in progress and there’s great beauty in that. Painted on the top left of the butterfly’s wings are different themes that encapsulates certain themes that the artist was drawn to over the course of SOW. Overwhelmed by God’s love when He sent His only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for us on Calvary. The three hearts are the Heart of Jesus, The Heart of St Mary and The Heart of St Joseph. The little butterfly at the bottom has a pair of eyes which symbolises the restoration of new sight and vision to see God’s beauty and goodness all around her. The hands holding onto each other is inspired by the story of St Peter when he was drowning in the water and called upon the name of the Lord to save him. Similarly, with this new life, heart and eyes, the Lord has shown the artist that there is true power in His name and He will come to our aid when we call upon His name. There is power in the name of Jesus.
