Advent 2023: What Is The Gift of Advent?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Where do we find ourselves as we enter into the First Sunday of Advent tomorrow? Have we found time to arrive into this season of preparation? Are we open and ready to prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus? Do we desire to? 

This week, let us ponder on the ultimate gift that God the Father gives us. He is Jesus Christ, hope of the world. Through this week’s reflections and invitations, we delve into the gift of Hope in our lives – how it is freely given to us, how it seeks to bring us new life. 

We pray that you may come to recognise again, with new awe and wonder, this gift you are about to receive at Christmas.

Most of my life has been a search for meaning and purpose. For many years, I believed that success was the answer. I worked hard, and eventually  secured a job that I was both excited and passionate about.  I did well at my job. Everything seemed to be falling into place.
