Walking Through Lent: The Heart of God

In our Lenten journey, true freedom requires total dependence on the Lord. As we entrust ourselves fully into His hands, it is essential to claim the truth of who He is everyday.

Pope Benedict XVI writes, “Our God has a heart”. He is not only sensitive to our sufferings, but He is with us in our sufferings. In our brokenness, the Lord blesses us abundantly with His gifts of kindness, mercy, and love. His light cleanses and reconciles us back to Him.

In this time, we may have fallen back into sin or have been tempted to give up on ourselves. However, the Lord does not despair but instead, saves. This week’s readings invite us to ponder deeper on the heart of God – a heart that is fully and entirely for us and with us. Instead of focusing on our weaknesses, have faith in the power of His light that can never be overcome by darkness. When we allow ourselves to receive and also share His heart with others, we can then come to experience the full joy of His salvation. Wherever you are in your journey, return to His heart that beats for you.

Reflection Question:
What area of darkness in our lives does the Lord desire to shine His light in? How can we partner with Him in this?
