Walking Through Lent: The Radiance of the Resurrection

“The light that dazzled the guards keeping watch over Jesus’ tomb … is a divine light that has rent asunder the darkness of death.”

Today, we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and great victory over death! Pope Benedict writes that Jesus’ resurrection gives us the gift of hope in our lives and it is a precious gift indeed to know that our every wish, plan and even struggle is not in vain because of this great victory! We are reminded time and again in this week’s readings, about Jesus’ continued presence and the fact that He does not leave us.

Jesus’ victory is one that exists in a broken world where many of us continue to suffer.

For those of us who continue to struggle and suffer and grapple with our own darkness, today’s celebration is a reminder that Jesus opens the way to freedom, justice, victory and hope! Just as there is nothing that the light of the sun does not touch, the light of the resurrection touches us all, and illuminates all that is dark within us. So let us exclaim our Easter Alleluias in the midst of our own continued struggles and pains. Let us allow this celebration to take root in our hearts and remind us that we have reason to give thanks always because Jesus is with us always! Let us remember that just as we are, in our imperfect states, we too can partake in spreading the light of the resurrection to others and keep our faith alive through the word of our testimonies and the examples of our lives just like the men and women of faith who came before us did. So let us rejoice! Alleluia! He is risen!

Reflection Question:

How have you seen the dazzling light of Jesus work in your life even in the midst of your brokenness? What is your testimony of faith? Sit and reflect and write a short testimony. Share it on your social media to bless others!

Truth Be Told: I am Made for More.

Most of my life has been a search for meaning and purpose. For many years, I believed that success was the answer. I worked hard, and eventually  secured a job that I was both excited and passionate about.  I did well at my job. Everything seemed to be falling into place.
