Walking Through Lent: The Way of Mercy

In this Fifth Week of Lent, we are invited to ponder on God’s loving mercy. On this Lenten journey, we may have often found ourselves struggling with sin and temptation. Perhaps we have also felt like the adulterous woman in John 8, who was confronted with her own human weakness and sinfulness. Yet, Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again”. Brothers and sisters, this is exactly God’s mercy for us, that even in our sin He does not condemn us. Instead, God meets us with His Divine Love and forgiveness, and desires for us to be reconciled to Him. Indeed, God’s justice is His loving mercy towards us; a love that saves us, and brings us new life.

In the darkness of sin, we fail to see God’s goodness and His promise of new life. But God, in His infinite goodness, sends us Jesus to show us the way of mercy to reveal to us God’s love and forgiveness. This way of mercy is the Way of the Cross that Jesus walked, so that come to share in the promise of new life through His Resurrection.

Reflection Question:

How have you experienced God’s mercy this Lent? What is your response to God’s mercy?

Truth Be Told: I am Made for More.

Most of my life has been a search for meaning and purpose. For many years, I believed that success was the answer. I worked hard, and eventually  secured a job that I was both excited and passionate about.  I did well at my job. Everything seemed to be falling into place.
