“I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
This issue, we meditate on the topic of suffering. This is a reality of life that is perhaps the most complicated to grapple with. Often, our focus is on when it will end. However, we invite you to ask rather, “Who is the One that is with me in this?”
His name is Jesus, and He is close at hand. Let us take comfort and refuge in that; for you are safe!

ON SUFFERING & SAFE SPACES
It is all too easy to only see the immediate in trying times. Many of us may feel that there is no end in sight … This is why Jesus’ exhortation in John 16:33 is so important in times of trial. He does not promise us smooth sailing and trouble-free lives. In fact, He tells us that there will be tribulation, almost as a certainty, but that He has not merely experienced the same in His life, but overcome them as well. – Anita Zidar
