OFFICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

MONTHLY BULLETIN | AUGUST 2021 | ISSUE NO.55

OUR MISSION

RAISING UP A GENERATION FOR CHRIST

DEAR FRIENd

This issue, we examine the perfect peace mentioned in Isaiah 26 that the Lord desires to give to all His people. How do we attain the peace of the Lord that is neither circumstantial nor swayed by external forces? How do we begin to or continue to trust in the Lord when we cannot see the light or what the way forward looks like?

We pray that the faith stories of our brothers and sisters in Christ, faith resources, and exhortations in this issue will serve as encouragement for you to that end. May you know that you are not alone in your struggles but truly united with Christ who is always with you!

TESTIMONY & THANKSGIVING

SOCL 2021

We look back on 10 days of School Of Christian Leadership where our uni students went deeper with the Lord! Despite being held online, we praise God for how He moved so powerfully!

“I claim the truth that only God can offer a form of love that fills me up and overflows like no other. A love that demands nothing from me other than to be myself, a love that calls me Beloved. Today, I am starting to discover God for who He really is – my father, friend, comforter but most importantly, lover. Having experienced a life magnified in Christ, there is no turning back.” – Natalie Khoo, NUS, Participant

#OYP200FOR200

#OYP200for200: I Choose You

Jesus chooses us always. He chose us to die for at calvary. He chooses to be present to us each moment of our lives. He has already chosen to be with us in our future – every joy, every tear. The question is: do we desire to choose Jesus too?

Our faith is not only about the moment of encounter but the daily choices that we make. Nicole (SMU) and Kuang Teck (Genesis, working adult community) share their lives of staying close to the Lord each day of their lives.

FAITH FORMATION

On Trusting the Lord and Maintaining Peace

“Our minds are key to our well-being, and we see this emphasised in Scripture time and time again. If we keep our minds fixed on the Lord, we will experience the peace of God.”
– Anita Zidar

Read on for an exhortation on experiencing and keeping hold of God’s peace.

FAITH RESOURCES

Searching for and Maintaining Peace

The more our soul is peaceful and tranquil, the more God is reflected in it, the more His image expresses itself in us, the more His grace acts through us.”
– Jacques Philippe

We live in an age of 24 hour news cycles, constant stimulation, and doing. Add in a global pandemic that has thrown us into greater uncertainty, turmoil and greater isolation than ever before, and the possibility of peace seems ever so bleak. Can we truly seek, find and keep peace of heart of mind? How can we do so? Discover more in this simple treatise.

TREASURE #13

Calling all Working Adults (21 to 35 years old)! 25 Nov (Thu), 8pm – 28 Nov (Sun), 6pm (requires 1 day of leave on 26 Nov)

I came into the retreat at quite a busy and hectic time in my life. Feeling fatigued and overwhelmed, I used work as an excuse for how inconsistent and shallow my interior life had become. During the retreat, Jesus reminded me of my belovedness, and how He desires to reorder all of my life. Through the sessions and cell groups, Jesus inspired me to renew my commitment to Him. He invigorated my spirit and refreshed my soul! I step back into the week ahead with a new energy that I pray the Lord will sustain.” – Joseph Tan, 26, Treasure#12 participant

Registrations open in September. Save the date and  stay tuned!

Note: This retreat is planned in compliance with MCCY requirements. More information with be provided closer to the date.
